While camping a few weeks ago, our campground was the Canada goose hangout. We had hundreds of geese come around. Many times, they would fly right over us to check out what we were doing as they made their way to wherever they were going.
I had a few wishes in seeing this – I wished I had my gun, I wished I could hunt in the campground, and I wished it were goose season. I couldn’t have my wishes, but it was still enjoyable to see the geese flying around. There is a public hunting spot not far from this campground, so I’ll probably be there at some point during the hunting season.
Last night, I tried something different. I’m currently at the Great Plains Renaissance Festival selling my books. To save a few bucks and to maximize my stay away from home, I decided to camp at Lake Cheney nearby. The showers sucked and the wind was a little fiercer than the weatherman predicted, but it wasn’t a bad stay.
I didn’t have near the geese I had a few weeks ago, but I did have an armadillo come into my camp while I was watching a video and shining a light on it. It wouldn’t leave unless I tried to head for it for a closer pick. Even with this, I enjoyed my peaceful little spot. Wish I had more time out there, but I have work to do!
Wish me luck!
