nightmare on woodland hills street

camp

We went camping last weekend. It was a much needed, cheap vacation just down the road from us. We also left the dogs at home (thanks Grandma for babysitting!). Unfortunately, we had a ton of neighboring campsites that didn’t leave their dogs at home. While some of their barking wasn’t their fault (coyotes in the area), the majority could have been curtailed. It was annoying trying to sleep through the racket.

I believe this was the driving force behind my nightmare that night. I was a serial killer who killed bad dogs. I was Dexter-like, but with dogs instead of humans. At one point, I was at a vet clinic where I was picking up an American Eskimo Dog with Zailey and Milo. All three dogs played, but I woke from the nightmare before the kill.

Nightmares are nothing new for me. Some even make great stories (Alien Fear would be the best example). Other nightmares never make it to the keyboard. While this one did make it to a blog, I have no plans to write this into a story. I don’t think I can stomach it.

Every time a telemarketer calls, I think of my short story, “The Danger of Telemarketing”. Now when a dog barks, I’ll probably think of this nightmare!
